Changes in Management of Recycling

01 July 2014

SPAIN: The future of recycling suggests that the classification will be one of the most important in the recovery of waste elements.

Imagine the scenario: on your way to work stopped to buy a coffee to go. A few minutes later, you leave it in the bin for recycling with the certainty that you have contributed your bit in the fight against global warming.

Later the collection truck does its job and carries cardboard waste container destined for waste sorting plant.

Waste Classification

The process continues. Later, diligent and nimble fingers, select and grab that cup of coffee from the conveyor and place it in the pile of trash that goes to ... landfill.

Whislt that first act might look socially laudable, we find that has not been for the better. The recycling industry is changing, management companies are becoming stricter when it comes to recovering waste, they are demanding a more stringent assignment.

Contrary to popular belief, cardboard coffee cups, increasingly common in Spain, and not being recycled. Nor are the plastic bottle caps, shopping bags from the supermarket, pizza boxes or cases of beer.

For some time a trend is delevoped not to accept dirty, contaminated or incorrectly ordered items, or what it means, otherwise the material for recycling can lose value if they fail a certain set of standards, and as a result only shipments of clean, well-sorted, waste sells for a better price.

Takeaway coffee cups

Some examples of common materials that are not recycled:

1. Supermarket plastic bags: they get caught in machinery. They have no value to recyclers and do not degrade in a reasonable period of time.

2. Cardboard boxes used in refrigerators or freezers (eg, food packaging): These boxes are exposed to moisture in refrigerators or freezers and so are chemically treated in advance to resist moisture and are very difficult to extract the pulp and subsequent recycling.

3. Takeaway Cups: They are often contaminated with liquid such as coffee or milk and are already coated with a coating to keep heat and resist moisture. Consequentially, you can not extract pulp for recycling.

4. Plastic bottle tops: this is a different and complicated plastic recycling process.

These are just some cases showing that the recycling process is specializing and the trend suggests that the effort should increase in the classification process, if the goal is to recover waste and scrap and obtain economic performance.

One of the many benefits of Mil-tek is that its easy to separate waste at the point where it is generated, allowing less time and effort to separate different materials prior to compaction.

The result is that you can trade up the value of their waste with managers because bullets deliver material perfectly categorized .

Stay ahead of the future of recycling with Mil-tek.
